GUIDE · DOOMSCROLLING

Stopdoomscrolling.

You open the app to check one thing. An hour later you feel worse than before, and you do it again tomorrow.

Why you cannot just stop

The feed has no ending. Every swipe might be the good one, so your brain never gets a natural point to put the phone down. It is not a character flaw, it is how the feed is built.

1. Count what it costs

A 100-year life is 5,200 weeks. Put your birthday into Your life in weeks and look at how many boxes are already crossed out, and how many of the rest your phone would take at your daily hours. Most people only need to see that number once.

2. Remove the feed, not the app

Deleting apps fails because you need them. Remove only the endless part: Shorts, Reels, the feed. Make Yourself does this on Android while YouTube and Instagram keep working.

3. Put something in the empty slot

Scrolling fills boredom. If nothing replaces it, it comes back. Pick one small thing for the moments you usually scroll and track it, so the streak becomes the thing you do not want to break.

If it feels heavy

If the scrolling comes with feeling empty or alone for a long time, talk to someone you trust. The phone is often the symptom, not the cause.

Requirements

Android, from Google Play. Blocking is part of Pro, $1.99 for the first month. Cancel any time in Google Play.

From the founder

I'm Danylo, 17. I used to lose 5-6 hours a day to Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Deleting apps and screen time limits did not work for me; a written plan did. Then I built Make Yourself. Read my story →

Try it for 7 days.
