GUIDE · SCROLLING

Stopscrolling.

You do not need to delete YouTube or Instagram. You need to delete the feed.

Why deleting the app never works

You delete Instagram on Monday. By Thursday you need it for a message, you reinstall it, and the Reels are waiting. The problem was never the app. It was the endless feed inside it.

Block the part, not the app

Make Yourself watches what is on screen. YouTube stays, Shorts go. Instagram stays, Reels go. Messages, search and the useful parts keep working. Incognito tabs and adult sites can be closed too, so there is no back door.

Replace the scroll with something you can see

Blocking alone leaves a hole. Fill it:

  • Three tasks a day. Write them the night before.
  • A focus timer on each task. Start it and your phone goes silent.
  • A streak you can see. Miss a day and you feel it.

A simple 7-day plan

  1. Day 1: install a blocker for Shorts and Reels only.
  2. Day 2: phone charges outside the bedroom.
  3. Day 3: first 30 minutes of the day with no screen.
  4. Days 4-7: one focus session a day, no phone in reach.

Track every day. After a week you will see how many hours the feed used to take.

Where Make Yourself fits

Make Yourself is a discipline app for Android and Windows: feed blocking, tasks with focus timers, habits, money, training and a private journal in one place. App blocking is part of Pro, and Pro is $1.99 for the first month.

From the founder

I'm Danylo, 17. I used to lose 5-6 hours a day to Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Deleting apps and screen time limits did not work for me; a written plan did. Then I built Make Yourself. Read my story →

Try it for 7 days.
