Why you procrastinate
Almost always one of three reasons: the task is too vague ("work on project"), too big ("write the essay"), or something easier is one tap away.
7 fixes
- Write the next physical action. Not "essay", but "write the first paragraph".
- The 2-minute start. Promise yourself two minutes. Starting is the hard part.
- Three tasks a day. Written the night before. Not ten.
- A timer on the task. A running clock makes the work real.
- Remove the escape. Block Shorts and Reels while you work.
- Same time, same place. Your brain learns when it is work time.
- Score the day. At night, look at what got done.
What to do when you already lost the morning
Do not write the day off. Pick one task, start a 25-minute timer, phone out of reach. One done task beats a perfect plan for tomorrow.
Where Make Yourself fits
Tasks with a focus timer on each one, feed blocking (Pro), streaks and a daily score in one app for Android and Windows. Pro is $1.99 for the first month.
From the founder
I'm Danylo, 17. I used to lose 5-6 hours a day to Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Deleting apps and screen time limits did not work for me; a written plan did. Then I built Make Yourself. Read my story →
